Daily Homework
- In the upper grades, each night, your child will bring home a Take-Home Book, which is a copy of a book he has already read in school. In the lower grades, your child will bring home sight words. Your child can read the Take Home Book or practice their sight words to you, an older brother or sister, or other caregiver. You can even have your child read to his stuffed animal! The idea is to have him read every night to give him time to practice what he has learned about reading.
- In addition to the Take-Home Book, your child will sometimes bring home phonics and word activities/games that he worked on. Most likely, he will be excited to show you what he has done and will want to share it with you.
- Some of the games can be played with small paper letter cards that I will be sending home.
- If possible, we recommend that you purchase a set of uppercase and lowercase colored magnetic letters, which are available at large discount and toy stores or even online. Magnetic letters can make a fun and worthwhile birthday gift.
- If you have to make a choice, it is most important that your child read the Take-Home Book. Most important, enjoy your time together reading, writing, and talking!
